An optician designs and fits eyeglasses and contact lenses. An optometrist examines eyes, prescribes glasses or contact lenses, and diagnoses certain eye conditions. An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who specializes in eye diseases, surgery, and comprehensive eye care.

No prior experience is necessary to join our program. We provide free online training through our non-profit and hands-on training on the job, ensuring you gain the skills required to succeed as an optician.

The training itself is completely free. However, participants will need to acquire their own optical tools and frames. These can be purchased from platforms like eBay, Amazon, or veteranlab.com, or sourced from any other retailer. The tools and supplies used during the training enable you to tint lenses, adjust glasses, and perform minor eyeglass repairs. Please note that The Optician Recruiter does not sell optician kits or supplies.

The optical route sales role involves selling wholesale optical goods, such as lenses, eyewear, and tools, to optometrists and ophthalmologists. Reps service approximately 40 doctors per route, providing product demonstrations, on-site eyeglass repairs, and custom services.

 In addition to training, we help place participants with eye doctors or within our optical routes. Graduates also receive a certificate of completion, which enhances their credentials in the optical industry.

Absolutely! We encourage recruitment, and recruiters earn $150 for each new student they bring into the program. This is a great way to grow the community and help others start a rewarding career.
